Balloon Girl: Fabric and Form Workshop

Create Your Own Masterpiece (2 Sessions / Total 5 Hours)

Transform an old cotton t-shirt from your home into a timeless sculpture using the Powertex technique. In this workshop, rather than relying on ready-made molds, you will learn how to build a three-dimensional figure by hardening and shaping fabric.

Session 1: Form Creation and Draping (2.5 Hours)

During this initial stage, we build the basic structure of your figure and begin shaping your character over a prepared skeleton. Using a fabric hardener, you will hand-drape the dress, working with the fabric's natural weight and flow to create lifelike folds. After adding final touches like a bandana and a balloon to bring movement and balance to the composition, your figure will be set aside to dry and cure.

Session 2: Color, Shadow, and Surface Processing (2.5 Hours)

In the second session, we move on to coloring your now fully hardened and fully formed figure. By applying dry brushing and layered shading techniques, you will learn how to bring out the depth and hidden textures beneath the fabric's folds. Once the final protective varnish is applied, your uniquely personalized figure will be ready to take home.

What should I bring with me?

As part of our upcycling and production cycle, all you need to bring is an old t-shirt. Non-synthetic, solid-colored, and relatively thin cotton fabrics work best for the shaping process.

All technical materials, Powertex products, shaping tools, and brushes used during the workshop are fully included in the participation fee.

Is Experience Required?

No, you do not need any prior background or crafting experience to join our workshops. Our short, focused sessions are designed around understanding how the materials work, rather than just mechanically assembling ready-made molds. You will receive one-on-one technical guidance every step of the way.

Our goal is not just to produce a quick, disposable object. Instead, we want you to truly connect with the materials and experience the satisfaction of creating an original, lasting piece of art that you have personally shaped from start to finish.

Material Safety and Smell

The Powertex products we work with are water-based, eco-friendly, and do not have any strong chemical smells, like paint thinner. They are safe for your health and very comfortable to use indoors.
