Cat Figure: Circular Upcycling Workshop

This workshop is a hands-on experience in circular upcycling, showing how everyday plastic waste and scrap textiles can be transformed into a beautiful form using fabric hardening techniques. Throughout the session, you will learn the logic behind shaping the materials while personally turning waste into an aesthetic object.

Structural Foundation and Coating

We begin the workshop with a cat skeleton made from a plastic bottle, which was stuffed with waste packaging by a previous participant. You will cover this form using old t-shirt scraps treated with a fabric hardener to build the figure's basic volume.

Surface Character and Stylization

Once the base form is ready, we move on to surface design. You can give your cat a unique personality by applying fabrics of different textures, lace, or gauze. The material is incredibly flexible, offering plenty of room for personal expression—whether you prefer a minimalist look or a humorous, abstract shape.

The Upcycling Cycle

While your figure is drying, you will take part in the most meaningful stage of this workshop: the collective cycle. You will pack the empty plastic bottle you brought with waste packaging, preparing a new foundation for the next participant's cat sculpture.

Coloring and Final Touches

Finally, you will apply coloring and shading techniques to your dried and fully hardened figure. By the end of the session, you will have completed a piece of art that you shaped at every stage, while actively contributing to a sustainable cycle.

What should I bring with me?

Empty 0.5-liter plastic water bottle and household packaging waste: To build the inner skeleton of the sculpture, add volume, and contribute to our collective upcycling cycle, please bring clean, dry plastic packaging waste (such as product wrappers or plastic bags) and empty plastic bottles from home.
An old t-shirt (100% cotton): Non-synthetic, solid-colored cotton fabrics work best during the shaping phase.

All technical materials, Powertex products, shaping tools, and brushes used during the workshop are fully included in the participation fee.

Is Experience Required?

No, you do not need any prior background or crafting experience to join our workshops. Our short, focused sessions are designed around understanding how the materials work, rather than just mechanically assembling ready-made molds. You will receive one-on-one technical guidance every step of the way.

Our goal is not just to produce a quick, disposable object. Instead, we want you to truly connect with the materials and experience the satisfaction of creating an original, lasting piece of art that you have personally shaped from start to finish.

Material Safety and Smell

The Powertex products we work with are water-based, eco-friendly, and do not have any strong chemical smells, like paint thinner. They are safe for your health and very comfortable to use indoors.
