4-Week Sculpture Workshop: Form and Technique

Designed for those who want to immerse themselves in a gradual, in-depth creative journey. In this program, you will learn all the fundamental steps of building a three-dimensional figure over a metal skeleton, using fabric hardening techniques and an old t-shirt from home.

Week 1: Skeleton and Basic Shape

We start by deciding how you want your figure to stand and building a simple metal skeleton. From there, we use aluminum foil to bulk it out, giving your sculpture its basic shape and weight.

Week 2: Building the Foundation

During this step, we completely cover the metal and foil base using old fabric strips soaked in Powertex. This is what makes your sculpture really sturdy and gives us a nice, solid surface to work on for the next layers.

Week 3: Draping and Character

This week is all about bringing your figure's story to life. You will learn how to drape and fold the fabric naturally to create the clothing. We will also add details, like hair or small accessories, to make everything come together beautifully.

Week 4: Color and Final Touches

Now that your sculpture is fully dried and hardened, it is time for color. We will layer special pigments and use a simple dry brushing technique to add light, shadows, and subtle metallic hints that really make the little details pop.

What should I bring with me?

An old t-shirt (100% cotton): Non-synthetic, solid-colored cotton fabrics work best during the shaping phase.

All technical materials, Powertex products, shaping tools, and brushes used during the workshop are fully included in the participation fee.

Is Experience Required?

No, you do not need any prior background or crafting experience to join our workshops. Our short, focused sessions are designed around understanding how the materials work, rather than just mechanically assembling ready-made molds. You will receive one-on-one technical guidance every step of the way.

Our goal is not just to produce a quick, disposable object. Instead, we want you to truly connect with the materials and experience the satisfaction of creating an original, lasting piece of art that you have personally shaped from start to finish.

Material Safety and Smell

The Powertex products we work with are water-based, eco-friendly, and do not have any strong chemical smells, like paint thinner. They are safe for your health and very comfortable to use indoors.
